Roastar Design Lab™ 101: Step-by-Step Guide
Our quick and easy guide to getting started in Roastar Design Lab™. You’re just a few easy clicks and picks from awesome personalized packaging!

You might’ve budgeted for a small order of blank packaging and a label (a great option), but what if it were possible to have gorgeous, personalized packaging with a similar impact on your bottom line?
Enter our online design interface, with easy tools and an AI image-generating feature to help even those with no design experience to create shelf-quality packaging.
You'll have the option to either use our tools to create a design from scratch or to upload a Roastar PDF template (just make sure the template size matches the product and that you've removed the guide layer). View your design instantly on a live 3D mockup that updates each time you make a change.
Best of all, you’re not locked into placing huge orders. In Roastar Design Lab™, minimums start at a single tin can, paper tin tie bag, or paper mailer; 25 gusset bags or stand up pouches; and 100 flat bottom bags or coffee bag labels.

Absolutely! Let’s go through it together, step by step.
Step 1: Pick Your Product
The first step on your epic packaging journey is choosing a Roastar Design Lab™ product, whether it's a gusset bag, flat bottom bag, stand up pouch, paper tin tie bag, tin can, paper mailer, or coffee bag label.
Select your chosen product to be redirected to a dedicated webpage to learn more info. Use the pricing tool to choose or enter your desired quantity (which can be changed later) and get a quote.
If you have a design ready on a Roastar PDF template, choose the "Upload finished artwork" button to be directed to the Design Lab. If you'll be designing online, select "Design online."

Step 2: Start Designing
Now that you’re in the Roastar Design Lab™, you're ready to start designing or upload an existing design.
Here are steps for each path:
If you have a template:
Select the "Browse Files" button and choose your PDF or AI file. Before uploading your file, ensure that the template size is correct for the product and that the guide layer has been deleted.
Read the Terms & Conditions and select "Accept." Review your design on the 2D canvas and 3D mockup. If everything looks good, proceed to the next step.

If you are designing online:
Explore the menu on the left to begin your design journey. In Themes, you can choose a pattern if available for the product or keep things simple with a solid color.
Want to make your design totally you? Upload own custom artwork and logo as a PNG or JPEG or create something with AI by using our built-in Text to Design tool. Write out a prompt that's as specific as possible to get the best result, and AI will generate a unique pattern in just a few seconds.
Start getting seriously personalized by adding text and shapes to your 2D canvas — just navigate to Elements or Text in the menu.
Once you click on an element, a toolbar will appear above your design space. With these tools, you can:
Change the color of the text or shape.
Adjust the font and line spacing.
Align elements to the center of the panel.
Add transparency.
Crop an image.
Flip a shape horizontally or vertically.
Use the color dropper tool to select a color on your design.
Arrange text on top of a shape.
Hide, lock, or delete elements.
Want to copy a shape or text box? Right-click on the element to bring up a shortcut menu. From here, you can select "copy," and then bring up the menu again to paste.

Any changes you make to your 2D canvas will automatically appear on the 3D rendering—just click and drag it to get a 360-degree look at your design!

Step 3: Place Your Order
Finished designing? Take a moment to admire your work (you deserve it). If you'd like to save your work, click “Save” at the top (you'll need to log in or create an account for this feature). You can also checkout as a guest, but we do recommend saving your project so that none of your hard work is lost and you can access the project later.
Adjust the order quantity using the drop-down menu next to the “Review & Order” button, or decide on this detail later in the checkout process.
Design Review

All set? Click “Review & Order.” This next part is your last chance to make sure everything’s perfect! Double-check that your design follows our guidelines and check the agreement boxes. If everything looks good, click “Continue.”
Name Your Project and Add to Cart
Congrats! You’ve reached the final stretch. This is where you can review your product details, adjust your quantity, name your project, and add it to your cart. From there, it’s just a quick hop to checkout. It won’t be long now until your masterpiece comes to life! Check our current estimated delivery times.
