PERSONAL BIO
Josh McKenna is a brand strategist and identity designer based in metro Detroit, designing under the philosophy of strategy before execution, clarity before design. He has been freelancing since 2011 and founded Josh McKenna Design in 2018, working with founders and growing businesses on brand identity systems, packaging, and creative direction.
His recent focus is consumer packaged goods and specialty coffee packaging and promotions, where he designs packaging systems, writes the label copy and tasting notes, and builds brew guides that help customers get more from the bag.
After sixteen years immersed in Nashville’s specialty coffee scene, he designs for the people who actually drink the coffee, not just the shelf. He also photographs his own client work, so the packaging is designed with how it will be seen in mind.
