When too much of a good thing is wonderful.
Keep your product standing tall against the competition with these self-standing pouches. In a 4 oz, 2 lb, or 5 lb size, the sealed sides and bottom gusset give this resealable ziplock pouch plenty of strength and stability.
The stand up pouch is great for most dry, powdered, or even frozen products, including coffee beans, tea leaves and more.
Common questions we get about our stand up pouches.
What size do I need for my product?
The capacity of bag sizes we provide are approximations only. The capacity (ex. 4 oz, 2 lb, 5 lb) is based on tests using whole coffee beans. A bag's capacity will vary depending on the product. For example, salt vs. tea; salt weighs more than most teas.
The bag sizes listed (ex. 13″w x 16″h x 5.5″d) are the bag's outer dimensions (edge-to-edge). For a more accurate estimation of whether your product will fit inside the bag, rely more on the "fillable dimensions." This takes into account the heat seal areas, zipper, etc.
What is the minimum quantity I can order?
Our blank stand up pouches come in a box of 100 or 250 depending on size. Our custom-printed stand up pouches come with a minimum of 1,000 bags. This minimum can be broken down further into 100 per artwork file or design.
How can I seal a stand up pouch?
To make your bags tamper-proof, you’ll need to heat seal them after filling; this is true for all of our bags, regardless of type or material. We recommend using a heat sealer with an adjustable temperature gauge — our bags should be sealed between 120 and 130 degrees with a hold time of two to four seconds. Sealers without temperature control may run too hot and risk melting the material (no bueno).
What is a degassing valve?
Let’s talk science — gather ‘round, coffee snobs. Gases (including a bunch of carbon dioxide) are emitted after roasting and continue to emit even after your coffee is packaged. If the gases are trapped inside the package, this can cause the bag or pouch to inflate or bloat (not cute).
Here’s where the degassing valve magic comes in. When pressure inside a sealed package increases beyond the valve opening pressure, a membrane in the valve momentarily opens to allow gas to escape out of the package. As gas is released — and the pressure inside the package drops below the valve close pressure — the membrane reseals. This one-way air valve is added to fresh roast and ground coffee bags to allow the carbon dioxide to easily escape and prevent more oxygen from entering, slowing the rate of reaction and increasing the lifespan of your lovely coffee. Mm, coffee.

Do you offer any sustainable materials?
Yes! We do offer packaging solutions for different types of waste management streams.
We offer store drop off recyclable bags (valves and zippers in our Gusset Bag, Flat Bottom Bag, Stand Up and Flat pouch styles), curbside recyclable tin cans (which can be used multiple times thanks to our Peel & Stick Tin Can End), compostable bags (currently being ASTM6868 tested), and our curbside recyclable Paper Tubes.
We offer two compostable packaging material options in compostable Kraft Laminate and compostable White Laminate; you can find more information in our Materials Guide.
Digital printing as a whole is a great sustainability choice. Digitally printing on packaging materials produces much less waste than traditional printing. We're currently researching other sustainable and eco-friendly options for the upcoming year, so stay tuned!
