Flat bottom bags—also known as box bottom or square bottom bags—feature four panels and a flat, rectangular base, giving you plenty of room for your custom design to stand out. As the most stable, self-standing bag style, they’re a favorite for coffee packaging and other premium products.

Choose from a resealable zipper or tin tie to keep your product fresh after opening. When filling, the wide-open top allows for easy packing and must be heat-sealed to close securely. Note: A tin tie is not available for the 6–8 oz or 2 lb flat bottom size.

The minimum order quantity for flat bottom bags is 1,000 bags per artwork file. This higher minimum helps account for the extra setup and changeover time required for this bag style. Our flat bottom pouching line is twice the length of any other bag style, and it takes a little more TLC to produce these beautiful, high-quality bags.

The flat bottom machine's changeover time is elaborate, so we stick to five standard size offerings that accommodate 6 oz - 2 lb of coffee. If you have a large volume request for a custom size, please connect with our customer service team.

The capacities listed for our bag sizes are approximations based on whole coffee beans. Even within coffee, bean variety and roast level affect how much fits. For example, dark roasts take up more space than lighter roasts. Your product may fill the bag differently. Denser items (like salt) pack in tightly, while lighter products (like tea) take up more room.

Because of this natural variation, we suggest ordering a sample pack so you can test-fill your product and confirm the ideal size.

The bag sizes listed (e.g., 5 x 9.25 x 2.875) represent the bag's outer dimensions from edge to edge. For a more accurate idea of your product’s fit, refer to the fillable dimensions, which takes into account space taken up by heat seal areas and the zipper.

Yes, a clear window can be added to the flat bottom bag by selecting the clear recyclable material option. Roastar prints white ink under the entire design except where the window will appear.
