Continuous Improvement Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is responsible for initiating solutions and driving
improvements related to production processes, products, and equipment.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Non-exempt; 1st Shift (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and support in training to ensure work instructions are effective.

  • Audit SOPs to verify that the intended objective of the written procedure is being met and kept up to date to reflect the current processes.

  • Work with Operations and Process Engineering Teams to gather data and create measurables that drive continuous improvement efforts.

  • Collaborate with teams across shifts to achieve buy in and consensus on best practices and proven process controls.

  • Be creative and resourceful when developing training tools and methods of delivery; utilizing print, video, graphics, and outside resources to support improvements.

  • Provide feedback related to employee training and onboarding to enrich the experience and support further success.

  • Participate in the Quality Corrective Action Process and Closed Job Variance (CJV) review to support internal and external customer satisfaction with our products, processes, equipment.

  • Participate in weekly department meetings to communicate project updates and weekly to-do’s progress.

  • Foster Continuous Improvement and Employee Involvement on the shop floor, by working closely with Production Operators and Team Leaders to implement solutions, particularly employee suggestions.

  • Initiate productivity, safety, quality, and cost reduction improvements, by working collaboratively with others to implement them.

  • Assist in all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your manager.

  • Follow all Company safety policies and safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Follow all Company policies, rules, and regulations.

  • Always act as a professional representative of Roastar when communicating with employees, customers, material suppliers, and equipment vendors.

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years experience with Lean Six Sigma concepts & Root Cause Analysis

  • Demonstrated Technical Knowledge and 3-5 years minimum experience in a manufacturing work environment (preferred converting, printing, or flexible packaging)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance, instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals

  • Proven ability to prepare SOP’s and work instructions

  • Desire to seek out information and problem solve with a sense of urgency

  • Proven project management experience

  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities

  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business

  • Leadership skills
